Why Contribute?

Our Lady of Peace Post 1947 of the Catholic War Veterans of the U.S.A. is a 501(c)(19) tax-exempt War veterans' organization. The Post has established a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Foundation. Please make welfare fund checks payable to "Catholic Veterans of Nevada Charity Foundation, DBA Veterans Care Assistance Program." Please visit the websites at cvnc-foundation.org or www.vc-ap.org. Adopting the language suggested by Nevada Law AB 60, contributions to the Foundation and Junior ROTC Scholarship Program may be tax deductable as supporting the following exempt activities:


Veterans Tax Exempt Activities Funded by Catholic Veterans of Nevada Charity Foundation

  • Promote the general welfare of the community
  • Assist disabled and needy veterans, members of the United States Armed Forces and their dependents, and the widows and orphans of deceased veterans.
  • Provide entertainment, care, and assistance to hospitalized veterans or members of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Carry on programs to perpetuate the memory of deceased veterans and members of the United States Armed Forces and to comfort their survivors.
  • Conduct programs for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.

Tax Exempt Activities Funded by the Eugene T. Roark Memorial Junior ROTC Scholarship Program

  • Provide financial support for Junior ROTC High School Seniors to attend college
  • Encourage young men and women to continue their education

Veterans Tax Exempt Activities Funded by Catholic War Veterans Post 1947 General Fund

  • Sponsor or participate in activities of a patriotic nature.
  • Provide Firing Detail and Military Honors at grave side services, when requested in advance by the family of deceased veterans.
  • Provide social and recreational activities for members.

How to Contribute

If you would like to contribute to the Our Lady of Peace Post 1947 Catholic War Veterans of the U.S.A. general fund, please make your check payable to "CWV Post 1947" and indicate on the purpose line "General Fund Donation."Contributions to the Post General Fund may be tax deductable (Nevada Law AB 60 phraseology).

Contributions to Veterans' Organizations

IRC 170(c)(3) provides an income tax deduction for contributions to a post of "war veterans" if it is organized in the United States or any of its possessions, and no part of its net earnings inures to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. To qualify for deductibility of contributions, a veterans' organization must be exempt under IRC 501(c)(19) or any other appropriate section of the Code, but must also satisfy both a membership requirement and a purpose requirement.
